My painting began six years ago when I painted a full room mural in one of our first period bedrooms. My dad spent his last few years living with me and my husband Frank. I wanted him to feel relaxed in his own seacoast village. I used the remaining paint from his room mural to paint a much smaller mural on the wall of our shop in our barn.
A couple of weeks later, a customer came into our shop and wanted a mural "just like the one on the wall behind the counter" in her home. Then other customers requested murals in their homes. As a self taught artist, I have enjoyed every minute that I have spent creating pieces for homes, towns and commercial spaces.
Like many "folk artists" or "historic painters" like Grandma Moses and Rufus Porter, I have developed my own style of painting. I often paint large mural sized pieces on wood or masonite. My commissions have included the historic villages of Middleton, Newburyport and Templeton. I can create a painting of your home or town.
With the help of modern technology, my paintings can be recreated as "giclee", paintings on canvas in various sizes in a commercial studio. My paintings are available on greeting cards and tote bags. My work is also available for liscencing.
My work has been purchased by American Folk Art Museum Shops, Winterthur Shop and Bennington Potteries. I sell nationwide to specialty shops and collectors. I retail and wholesale my work. My email is .
You can read more of our story, my painting and our historic home in an article entitiled: "Bed, Breakfast and Beyond", in the January, 2010 issue of "Country Sampler Magazine."
